Natasha Gardos

Natasha Gardos is an Australian watercolour artist and illustrator, currently residing in the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. She describes her work as “delicate and dreamy with muted colours, melancholic nostalgia and quiet beauty”. Her art is heavily inspired by her environment and the content she consumes. She explains, “I love to travel, wander and wonder. I collect plant specimens, dig through history and observe the everyday.”

Natasha is available for commission work, and she has produced a range of stationery and home decor available via her Etsy shop. Her New Zealand zine is a part of the Tolkein fanzine collection at Marquette University, and she also has a sketchbook in the collection at the Brooklyn Art Library.

“I have a deep love of traditional art and old-world techniques, favouring the intricacy and nuance of the handcrafted. Through my exploration of various creative fields and media, I have come to specialise in watercolour and graphite illustration. I love the feeling of my pencil on paper and the portability and freedom that my kit allows. It has a simple intimacy to it that I don’t quite get from other media.”

Her qualifications include a Diploma of Visual Arts at SCIT, Queensland, and she is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts/Master of Teaching at Deakin University, Victoria. Natasha’s work has been featured in Art Edit magazine and Frankie magazine, and she exhibited in the 2019 Illustrators Australia 9x5 Grow Exhibition at the Victorian Artist Society, Melbourne.
