Parker-Nia Gordon

Parker-Nia Gordon grew up in the musical city of Memphis, Tennessee, home of rhythm and blues. From middle through to high school, she attended creative and performing arts schools, with an interest in drawing and painting.

Her passion for illustration and storytelling inspired her to go on and receive a BFA at Ringling College of Art and Design. After graduating, Parker returned to Memphis where she became a visual teacher for young elementary school children for three years.

More recently, she has had the opportunity to work in many galleries and artist pop-ups around her city. The show she is most proud of so far is her collaboration with local artists to create an exhibition at the Collective Complex Gallery, entitled The Audacity, Addressing Black Representation in Pop Culture.

Parker is inspired by lighting in nature, vibrant colours, and different textures. Her favourite choice of media is digital, using the Procreate application on her iPad
