Amelia K Fulton

Amelia is an Australian visual artist currently based in the UK. Her art communicates her passions and emotional landscape via her use of traditional pointillism technique and digital media.

Amelia’s journey alongside siblings with mental health struggles has led to a need to control as much as possible and mitigate feelings of disorder. Pointillism was a mental exercise to challenge herself, provide catharsis and as a meditation. Instead of expressing freeness and wildness via her art, she uses art to feel in control.

“Most of my pointillism pieces reflect my passions as an artist; intricacy, connection and the natural world. Through the technique of pointillism, I endeavour to reflect the intricacy of the natural world and the details that often go unseen or unnoticed. The curve of a scale, the depth of a pupil; facets of the world that so rarely get appreciated but hold such wonder. The challenge of both the technique and the realism force me to reflect on these intricate facets and allow for my understanding to expand.”

In 2019 she introduced digital illustration into her skill set. This technique is in direct opposition to the issues of control motivating her use of pointillism. Digital art is freeing and allows Amelia to make mistakes without calamity and have more freedom with colour and style. It has been the balance needed in her artistic practice.

In April and May 2018 Amelia and her sister Claire held their debut joint exhibition, ‘Kin’ at Juggler’s Art Space, Fortitude Valley, Queensland. Photographs from the exhibition are available for purchase on Amelia’s website.

Amelia has exhibited with RAW Artists, Zion, Vena Cava, Yonder Festival and MetroArts and recently Thoresby Hall Gallery, UK. She has held stalls at markets and sold works privately, with steady commissions since 2014. She has been featured in World of Interiors, (June 2020), WotisArt? Magazine (December 2019), The Average Art Mag (November 2019), A5 Art Magazine (November 2019), on The Makers Village as well as The
