Oriana Cardona 

 
 

Born in Bogota, Colombia, Oriana started painting at a young age and grew up surrounded by art at her uncle’s workshop and the work of Colombian artist Jairo Cardona. She studied philology and languages ​​at the National University of Colombia and organised lectures given by the French photographer Jonathan Zabriskie. In 2013 she moved to Paris and studied a master’s degree in “Art Medias, Culture and Foreign Society” at Paris VIII University. 

Aged 17 she held her first exhibition, ‘Expressions’ for the Achote association in Bogotá. She is deeply interested in the national Colombian art scene and established the ‘Buseta Art Collective’ in Bogotá in 2010. The association has grown significantly and continues to develop its objective of enabling various Colombian media and cultural groups to engage with the public. She participated in the short film festival ‘Dreams Short’ and received the award for ‘Recognition of the Public’ (2009). Oriana has exhibited her work, ‘The Uglys’ shown in Paris (2006) and ‘Colectivo la buseta’, shown in Bogotá (2011) and Paris (2018). 

In 2019 Oriana collaborated with La Caféothèque at Hotel de Ville, a well-known cafe in Paris. The year-long project saw her taste and illustrate their famous coffee, culminating in an exhibition titled ‘Un café, un visage’ which ran from December 2019 to February 2020. She was later commissioned to illustrate a special packaging celebrating the 15th anniversary of La Caféothèque and hired by Aroma Café to illustrate their coffee. Recent projects include a collaboration with photographer and writer Swan le Loup where she illustrated their debut story, ‘Renoir Comme Gorille’.
