HiJeong So
Illustrator HiJeong So currently resides in Seoul, South Korea.
She is a graduate of Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam, Germany where she studied animation. Her graduation short film Connect featured in several film festivals, such as Stuttgart Animation Festival and the Hiroshima Animation Festival.
Her pieces always begin with sketches directly coloured on an empty canvas using an iPad. She prefers to draw what is currently in her mind, distilling the most impressive things she saw or experienced that day and considering how can she can bind it together in one picture. This approach allows for freedom in her practice, and HiJeong herself doesn’t know what the final result will be. She says, “I am most inspired by nature or beautiful landscapes that make me feel comfortable and let me imagine surreal things about that atmosphere.”
HiJeong is currently working as a matte painter/concept artist in the VFX industry specialising in feature movies and Netflix projects including Kingdom Season 2 and Space Sweepers.
