Yuliya Somina is an award-winning illustrator living in London. She is a graduate of Moscow Art College with a degree in Fine Arts and has experience of working in animation.

Over the past 15 years, she has illustrated over 50 books for British, Russian and American publishing houses, including 200 illustrations for Bill Bryson’s, A Really Short History of Nearly Everything. She counts Random House, Scholastic and Franklin Watts among her clients and is famous for her humorous images created for magazines, newspapers and children’s book publishers.

Yuliya’s work is all about fun and wit, illustrated in a lively style, full of imagination - her purpose in art is to see the fun side in everything.

Her illustrations are generally created using ink, watercolours, pencils and mixed media; however, another favourite technique of hers is to create work with digital colouring, using hand-drawn ink outlines.

The latest project Yuliya worked on was a series of science books for children: Clever Creatures for Bramblekids.
