Daniel Wu (Dnepwu)
Chinese descendant, born and raised in São Paulo and currently living at Porto, Daniel Wu fell in love with illustrated books even before he knew how to read.
“Whenever I opened a book, it was a different story. Because of it, I became fascinated with illustration, and it’s potential to tell stories. It goes beyond beauty, decoration; it’s a universal language. It’s a great power.”
His main visual influences are 90’s cartoons and 60’s aesthetics. He is inspired by pop references, folklore from around the world and real-life scenarios. His work combines all of these elements, and the result is full of colour, expressions, energy, storytelling and good humour.
During his freelance career, Daniel has worked in advertising, editorial, animation and the games industry. He also presents Faber-Castell’s online art classes.
