Daisaku Senoo

Daisaku Senoo resides in his hometown of Chigasaki, a Japanese city that faces the Pacific Ocean. Heavily influenced by popular culture, Daisaku’s subjects often reference his favourite musicians and films. His illustrative style is characterised by the careful portrayal of shade and shadow using dots. He uses an iPad for drawing and creates his compositions and handles all of his colourising on a desktop computer. However, he also enjoys drawing with ink on paper.  

Daisaku’s creative practice is self-taught. He often browses Instagram and Pinterest to find new visual references and develop his artistic skills. He is inspired by a variety of contemporary artists, particularly Matt Taylor, for his use of layout, composition and colour. In addition to his creative pursuits, Daisaku holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and currently works as an engineer at a Japanese automobile manufacturer.
