Saeko Miki
Saeko Miki is a freelance advertising designer and illustrator based in Osaka, Japan.
Charity is at the heart of Saeko’s creative practice. She exhibits her illustrated posters and postcards at an annual charity group exhibition where the proceeds are donated to the Cancer Eradication Research Foundation. She is also a volunteer for an international NGO supporting children in need where she designs posters and illustrated picture books.
Her work is inspired by Japanese artists such as Jakuchu Ito, Keisuke Serizawa, and Takeo Takei. Travel is also a primary influence in her artwork, Saeko states, “I have visited Finland and the neighbouring countries several times. I am very inspired by the design and illustration of Scandinavian vintage sundries.”
Saeko produces her work leveraging a combination of traditional and digital media. Her creative process starts by drawing with coloured ink or taking photographs in nature. These images are redrawn using vector-based applications such as Adobe Illustrator. “It is fun to express the depth and transparency of nature.”
She is available for commission upon request.
