Kersten Lochow
The work of contemporary artist Kersten Lochow exemplifies the aesthetic of punk-rock. After choosing to unlearn everything he was taught in his initial training as an illustrator (2001-2003), Kersten went against the grain and began developing a signature illustrative style he describes as “destroyed, strong, loud, dirty and dark”.
Having been published in Digital Paintbook Volume 4, Kersten had mastered working digitally. However, he has since opted to put aside the drawing tablet in favour of pen and paper. These days, Kersten works with a diverse range of media including ballpoint and acrylic pens, markers, watercolours and fine liners on a range of archival papers.
Based in Dresden, Kersten earned his BA degree in communications design from the Vitruvius Design Hochschule in Leipzig in 2018. Even before he graduated, Kersten was active in the design scene, holding various roles in the industry until accepting a position as the head of design at the mediencollege Berlin. Kersten continues to hone his craft by staying current in the trends of the design field and welcomes new clients and commissions into his studio.
