Natasha Sheyènne
Natasha Sheyènne is a Russian artist currently living in Shanghai, China. She says the only thing that is Russian about her is that sunshine makes her sad. Having spent most of her adult life in Italy, Spain, and Ireland, she identifies more strongly with James Joyce than with Josef Stalin.
In 2013, during a personal crisis, she discovered drawing as a creative outlet. Returning to Moscow after years in Italy, and feeling like a foreigner in her own home was the catalyst to begin her artistic practice. Today her work combines multiple media, mostly black ink or watercolour, and she has recently started dabbling in animation. She’s a self-taught artist who experiments freely, unconstrained by rigid technique. Her work is most often an exploration of and into the darker corners of human emotions.
