Seeking a fresh perspective in his illustration art, Rob Crawford (whose professional name is Mr Grimsley) meanders between digital media as a means to conjure imagery that is both innovative and controversial. His process begins with the rudiments of hand drawing in pencil and ink and then builds through the use of digital painting as he crafts everything from the precision of portraits to the imagination inherent in his surrealist practice. Through it all, his central mission is to get brands and individuals alike to embrace illustration art as a part of their daily language.
Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mr Grimsley wields a BA in Creative Brand Communications from Vega School (Johannesburg). He has been published in two books by Money Wit and was a national finalist in The Absolut Creative Competition 2019.
