Thomas Ardelt
Freelance illustrator Thomas Ardelt exhibits a gestural, loose style that conveys an incredible sense of energy. Regardless of whether he is creating with Copic marker or within digital formats, Ardelt enjoys the flexibility to experiment with various styles, as if allowing different motifs and methods to enter into their conceptual conversation with each other.
Based in Munich, Germany, Ardelt started drawing as a young boy and even created his own Nintendo posters in the 1980s. He graduated magna cum laude from Akademie U5 in Munich and, following graduation, earned eight years of experience as an art director in the advertising industry. This experience proved helpful when Ardelt shifted into the realm of freelance illustration as it allowed him to explore a broader range of different styles to fit clients’ needs. In addition to working as an illustrator, Ardelt is also skilled in calligraphy as well as logo and identity design.
