Alejandro Armenta

Storytelling is at the heart of Guadalajara, México based artist Alejandro Armenta. His artwork invites the viewer to develop their own interpretation of the narrative. The worlds we are invited into, often dark and surreal, feature isolated anthropomorphic characters reminiscent of a surrealist’s exquisite corpse drawing.

The characters within his artwork are purposefully anatomically incorrect. Through the use of exaggerated proportions, Alejandro accentuates his character’s personalities and intensifies the intended mood within the artwork.

Inspiration for his work is fed by the work of artists Alphonse Mucha, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, Gustave Doré, José Guadalupe Posadas and Junji Ito.

After completing studies in design, along with taking private classes in etching and printmaking, Alejandro now works as a designer for the university ITESO (MX). He is also regularly engaged for private and commercial commissions for his list of reputable clients and collectors.
