Jette Reinert

Jette Reinert was born in 1960 in Viborg and now resides in Vejle, Denmark.

In 2012, after 25 years of working as a graphic designer, both in-house and freelance, she began studies at the Aarhus Academy of Art (Denmark). Since then, Jette has been working as a full-time professional visual artist.

Of her work, Jette states “I depict the strange, the imperfect, the humorous and the deformed with a life-affirming sense of humour. I invite the viewer into my worlds to develop their own interpretation of the narrative and the story taking place on the canvas”.

Artistically, Reinert is inspired by the Austrian symbolist painter, Gustav Klimt. This is evident in her use of gold leaf and the colour palettes utilised in her artwork.

She has exhibited extensively, showcasing her work in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Britain, and the United States. While in the United States, her artwork was showcased on one of the largest billboards in Time Square, New York City. She has also participated in three censored exhibits, the Aarhus Academy of Art’s censored show of 2012, and Hans Christian Andersen’s censored shows of 2013 and 2015. Additionally, her work was published in ArtMazeMag (Late Summer Issue in 2017) and participated in ArtHerning 2019, Denmark’s most notable art fair in conjunction with the country’s most prestigious galleries.
