BISCO SMITH

Employing a graffiti-deconstructive approach to Abstract Expressionism, American artist Bisco Smith uses his understanding of space and songwriting from his early years as a graffiti writer and musician to reduce his art to its fundamental essence of motion and rhythm. Amid this reductive process, he simultaneously channels the energy of a moment through gestural marks and abstracted, lyrical text. Reimagining abstraction through this unique contemporary lens, Smith aims to create art that inspires hope for the future.

Based in New York, Smith has enjoyed increasing appreciation for his unique style of artistic expression, thanks in part to his extensive participation in solo and group exhibitions in locales around the globe, from New York to Hong Kong. Over the years, in addition to his studio practice, he has been commissioned to create murals as well as live painting performances, and has also collaborated with major brands, such as Nike and SBE Hotel Group. Smith’s works are sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts worldwide.
