Danielle Del Pizzo
Carrying the art of collage into a realm where past meets present, and tradition becomes tantalising through innovation, American artist Danielle Del Pizzo has built a dynamic body of work. Beginning her art on an intimate scale, with small sketches or drawings using ink and watercolour, she then develops a bigger composition that utilises different media ranging from acrylic paint, collage, and found elements such as fragmentary text and old magazine clippings. An essential part of the artwork is the use of colour and design elements to capture a specific feeling or impression.
Based in New Jersey, Del Pizzo earned a B.A. in Art from Monmouth University. Her work grows from personal experiences and challenges past norms and idealisations within society. She creates pieces that grapple with the constant evolution of cultural norms, specifically the role of women in society.
