Amelia Dolanga
Positioning her painting as a path to truth, artist Amelia Dolanga uses colour and its various intensities to explore the way its abstract manifestations can conjure such an incredible array of reactions that are both deeply personal yet also relatable on a universal plane.
In each composition, Dolanga aims to elicit memories and feelings that transport the viewer of her work to another time and place altogether.
Born in Timisoara, Romania, Dolanga earned her degree from the West University of Timisoara in 1997 and continued her studies between 2004 and 2006 at Aegean University in the field of gender studies. Today, Dolanga is based on the Greek island of Lesvos and has enjoyed numerous opportunities to showcase her work, including her recent solo exhibitions at the Gallus Zentrum Gallery in Frankfurt (2001); Phoenix Art in Munich (2002); and Art Gallery “Halim Bey” in Lesvos, Greece (2018).
