Astrid Vlasman
Astrid Vlasman is a visual artist from Leiden, a city in the Netherlands.
The subject of her work is her investigation of people, the places around them and the traces they leave behind. Astrid uses images as inspiration. She enjoys making use of everyday materials such as paper, old bags, textiles, photographs, handwritten notes or messages and other similar articles.
In recent years she has experimented with different techniques including sewing, waxing, glueing and painting to explore the method of ‘making a collage’. Her most recent work features abandoned interiors and single figures. Various materials are integrated into the composition and combined with the use of oil paint to form the finished painting.
Astrid Vlasman’s works are in private collections. In addition to her creative practice, she often participates in or initiates workshops for children’s groups and young people.
