Jon Solaun Yagüe (Sola)
Jon Solaun Yagüe, better known as Jon Sola, creates expressive landscape paintings that comment on climate change, the Anthropocene.
After completing a BFA at the University of the Basque Country, Sola moved to Manchester, UK, where he rented a large studio and was selected by the Lubomirov-Easton Gallery to exhibit in Art Athina.
“What I find interesting about landscapes is the many different ways you can interpret them. I often produce several alternate paintings of one landscape, and I find it fascinating that each painting can be interpreted differently depending on the spectator, even though the subject matter remains the same. When I’m working, I spend a lot of time contemplating the artwork. I work quickly and then step back to muse on the changes I have made.”
Sola has exhibited internationally including galleries in Spain, Greece, the United Kingdom and Thailand.
Currently, he works and resides in Singapore.
