Cheraine Collette studied Photographic Design and graduated in 2015 at the age of 22. Her graduation show featured her Avant-Garde series ‘Upside Dawn’, which included two lenticular pieces. They were subsequently exhibited in Amsterdam Fotovakschool and the Dutch Fotofestival Naarden and received a nomination for the Joke Veeze Award. She has won multiple awards, and her work has been featured by internationally acclaimed photography websites, 500px and Viewbug.
Animals are a source of inspiration and a frequent subject that serves as a common theme to connect her works. Her aesthetic combines fashion with nature, animals and art. Through the use of photo manipulation, she aims to create a world where the audience will find themselves between fantasy and reality. Collette says, “Get inspired to explore your imagination and create works you never thought possible.”
The Marvels series was made in collaboration with Yoerie Custers (Instagram: @custersphotography) who photographed the décor of the uninhabited places. “The smell of old papers and the silence inside the buildings” are what makes him continually attracted to these abandoned sites. Custers is also the author of two books, Journey To Forgotten Dreams and Secrets Of Neglected Places.
The Marvels series won 1st place in the 2019 IPA Awards in the category of Professional Fine Art.
