Martin Webb
Martin Webb makes work that mixes imagery with abstraction; simple forms with rich colouration; and complex layering with plain spoken materials. His work considers the relationships between people, the natural world, and time. Webb’s recent painting uses boats and houses as simple metaphors for life’s journeys and notions of home.
Webb graduated in Visual Arts from Lancaster University in his native England before moving to California in 2002. He has exhibited widely on the West Coast and is represented by Stremmel Gallery, NV. His work is in multiple private, institutional, and corporate collections, including The Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento. In addition to studio painting, Webb makes sculptural installations and monoprints and has completed many large scale site-specific public art commissions.
